Fathers day is the 3rd Sunday in June. The idea came to Sonora Smart Dodd while listening to a mothers day sermon in 1909. As she was raised by her father, she wanted her father to have a special day for all his hard work in raising her. As Sorora was born in June she chose June and the 19th June 1910 in Washington was the first father's day. In 1924 this day was established and the Rose was chosen as a symble. Red for a living father and white for a father who had died. Fathers day was not recognised in England till the 1960s or 70s. ********************************** Reason Yesterday has been and gone Quiet reflection to ponder upon How the hours have been spent In dreams that came and wistfully went. Today has come once more How unlike it was before And yet it is much the same To find we play an intricate game. Tomorrow it will never be For then it will be today you see So in some strange uncertain way To day I will think of yesterday.
